New Enbridge Film: Risking it All – Oil on our Coast

Share

Watch this new 13 min short documentary from BC filmmaker Twyla Roscovich and CallingFromTheCoast.com on the proposed Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipeline and oil supertankers on BC’s coast.

From CallingFromTheCoast.com: “The north and central coast of British Columbia is one of last great wilderness areas that still supports a vibrant & productive ecosystem.  Home to thousands of runs of salmon, steelhead, grizzlies, wolves, orca, rare white bears, dolphins, porpoises and hundreds of other species, the coast is a natural spring of wealth & wonder.  The plan to build the Enbridge pipeline, with ensuing tanker traffic, threatens all of this- the coastal ecosystem, the coastal economies and local food security.

The BC coast supports many economies through commercial fishing, sport fishing & tourism, as well as providing massive natural food sources that feed thousands of people- serving up salmon, crab, halibut, clams, cockles, oolichan, herring, sea cucumbers, urchins, rockfish, lingcod, geoduck, seaweed, etc. A natural resource that just keeps giving. Enbridge plans to risk all of this to transport the dirtiest oil in the world to market. It’s your coast, province, and country. This short video outlines the plans for the pipeline and tanker route, the company behind this proposal, and what it means for our beautiful coast. Oil on our Coast was produced with Hartley Bay & the Gitga’at Nation with the goal of inspiring & educating in order to help save what sustains us.”

  1. The politicians know most people in the cities are not really concerned about environmental issues that are not in their backyard and therefore don”t have to worry where they stand on issues such as Enbridge, run of the river power, fish farms, etc.

  2. Campbell signed in favor of, the dirty oil tankers from China, and of course the Enbridge pipeline. Enbridge has a bad record, of pipeline bursts. The river the pipeline burst into in Michigan, was a terrible disaster. Pipelines always leak. When you think about all the terrain, the pipeline from the dirty tar sands, has to cross. There are hundreds of, rivers, streams and soil and of course our beautiful sea coastal waters, are also in deep peril. The dirty oil tankers have to navigate, one of the most dangerous sea waters in the world. Campbell and Harper are determined to force this on the BC people, who want no part of this. When the pipeline is done, so are the jobs. Enbridge will of course, give the jobs to their experienced pipeline layers first. There won’t be all that many jobs for the BC people.

Harper and Campbell are also determined, to drill gas and oil wells, off BC’s coast. The fact there was a 6.1 earthquake in the Queen Charlotte’s, doesn’t sink into them, or, perhaps they don’t give a damn.

Christy Clark is going to talk with Harper, regarding the expansion of, Prosperity Mine. The back door was left open, the expansion could be reapplied for.
