Check out the latest from our cartoonist and Kitimat resident, Gerry Hummel. The town’s council recently hosted a public forum on the proposed Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipeline, which would end its 1,100 km journey from the Alberta Tar Sands at the Port of Kitimat – where supertankers would be loaded with bitumen, en route to Asia and the United States. The elusive Enbridge VP for the project, John Carruthers, was there representing the company – which heard not one iota of positive feedback from the community all evening.
Hahaha very comedic illustration with quite obviously a very serious undertone, great stuff!
Very interesting post!
Great this is really nice!
There is also the, Enbridge b.s. about jobs. What jobs? Do they mean like the smelter tear down jobs in Kitimat? Like Canadians, need not apply?? The dirty oil tankers from China, will provide jobs for BC? I don’t think so.
We BC people are fed up with the destruction of our province. The filthy diseased fish farms killing our wild salmon. Our bears, eagles and hundreds of other wildlife species, depend on the salmon. The First Nations need the salmon to help feed their people.
Dumping toxic mine waste in lakes. Using horrendous amounts of water for fracking, which contaminates the clean underground water, for miles.
NO!! We do not want the dirty oil tankers in the Douglas channel. Our beautiful Orca and Humpback Whales and thousands of other marine life live there.
We don’t want our Rain Forests logged either. The beautiful Spirit Bears and the unique small wolves, live there. There are thousands of wildlife critters, that call those forests home. There are salmon runs, we must preserve.
The BC people have had enough stolen from us by, Harper, and the Campbell/Clark BC Liberals.
LEAVE BC ALONE!!!!
I was at that public forum in Kitimat. I loved the part when Carruthers was told ” Enbridge said, if the public is against this project, we will stop promoting it”. Then he was asked ” Why aren’t you gone, we don’t want this project?” A very unfriendly meeting towards the Enbridge representative. The cartoon is perfect right to the caricature of John Carruthers in his green sport jacket, which he was wearing that evening. Good job Gerry.
