About Gerry Hummel

Gerry Hummel is a political cartoonist based in Kitimat, BC. We are proud to call him the official cartoonist for this website. While working at the local paper mill and raising two children as a single-dad, Gerry began working as a self-taught editorial cartoonist for the town paper in 1993. Several years later, he and the paper got sued by a local politician for being too honest - something Gerry shares in common with certain other people at TheCanadian.org. After that, the paper restricted his artistic freedom to such an extent that he was unable to continue working with them. Naturally, he's a perfect fit for The Common Sense Canadian.

  1. Heh – BC Hydro is going to spend $ 27 billion in the next six years and expand – including building a new dam destroying the Peace River (Save Our Rivers hypocricy). BC Hydro just bought the Waneta dam from miners Teck!

    Ignorance no virtue.

  2. Congratulations Gerry!

This is one incredible contribution to helping British Columbians come to realize that our current Pinocchio premier Gordon Campbell and his Liberal government are a growing threat to the sovereignty, beauty and integrity of this best place on Earth to live province.

You’ve managed to create a colorful composite of all the main environmental issues that are on the minds of BCers and affixed them to our latest (male) Elder eco-statesman Rafe Mair who’s leading the charge for ecological and economic sanity and sustainability here in the province.

I’m certain that Rafe’s co-agitator on the enviro front, Betty Krawczyk, would be proud to wear one of these T-shirts. I know I’ll be sporting one as soon as they come available.

Thank you for brightening up an otherwise dreary and thankless initiative.
